Dr. Shuaib Lwasa

Shuaib Lwasa, an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, brings over 16 years of experience in university teaching and interdisciplinary research. His expertise spans multiple areas including climate change mitigation and urban adaptation, urban environmental management, spatial planning, disaster risk reduction, and urban sustainability. His published works cover diverse topics including cities and climate change adaptation, climate change health impacts, land and property rights, land use and landscape ecology, resource efficiency, and sustainable spatial planning. In addition to coordinating the Habitat University (UNI) climate change and disaster Hub, he serves on the Science steering committees of both the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) and the Urbanization and Global Environmental Change (UGEC) of Future Earth.
