Dr. Philip Roberts

Philip Roberts is a Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, specializing in hydraulic engineering and environmental fluid mechanics. His research focuses on the engineering design of water intakes and ocean outfalls for wastewater disposal and desalination brine, as well as the dynamics of density-stratified flows in lakes, estuaries, and coastal waters. His work encompasses the mixing and dynamics of natural water bodies, mathematical modeling of water quality, and both field and laboratory studies of turbulent mixing, employing innovative experimental techniques such as three-dimensional laser-induced fluorescence.
