The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityDr. Margo Turnbull serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she brings expertise in health communication and critical discourse analysis. Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in primary health care from the University of Technology, Sydney, and she currently leads several significant research projects at the International Research Centre for the Advancement of Health Communication. Her research portfolio spans multiple areas, including end-of-life communication practices in Hong Kong, digital health promotion messages for older residents, and community disruption and collective trauma recovery. As Principal Investigator on several major projects, she focuses on improving communication training in healthcare settings, particularly in end-of-life care services. Her work examines how ideas of health develop across the lifespan in response to social, economic, and personal factors, with particular emphasis on identity, health communication, and post-structural research methodologies. Through her research and teaching, she continues to advance understanding of health communication practices while contributing to the development of more effective healthcare training programs in Hong Kong.
