Dr Kirsten Howarth

Dr. Kirsten Howarth is a Lecturer in Humanitarianism and Conflict Response at the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI), University of Manchester. She earned her PhD in 2012, focusing on post-war violence in El Salvador, particularly the role of gangs and their impact on peace consolidation and development. Her current research explores humanitarian interventions in urban violence hotspots, examining the challenges posed by these complex environments.
