Dr. Jim Lowe is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in food animal practice with a focus on swine health management. A 1994 graduate of the University of Illinois, he completed the Executive Veterinary Program in Swine Health Management in 2000 and earned a Master of Science degree in infectious disease management in 2005. With extensive experience working with swine production companies across the U.S., he served as director of health and production services for The Maschhoffs Inc., one of North America's largest pork producers. In addition to his research on viral respiratory diseases in swine, Dr. Lowe founded Lowe Consulting Ltd. to assist livestock producers with strategic decision-making and process improvement. He has received several accolades, including the 2007 Allen D. Leman Science in Practice Award, and teaches "Sustainable Food Production Through Livestock Health Management," aiming to enhance food production systems through improved livestock health practices.
