Dr. Gurå, affectionately known by her students, moved to Scotland from Norway in 1997 to study veterinary medicine, graduating from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) in 2000 with an intercalated BSc Honours degree and in 2003 with a BVM&S. After several years in general and small animal practice, she returned to pursue a PhD in small animal veterinary oncology in 2007. Currently, she teaches anatomy, histology, and physiology to veterinary undergraduates at R(D)SVS while supervising research on oncogenes and their roles in cancer, as well as studying the Seram long-nosed bandicoot. In her leisure time, she enjoys activities with her two Border Collies, Blue and Fram, playing handball, and reading.
