Dr. Giorgio Locatelli is a Lecturer of Infrastructure Procurement and Management with a strong academic background, holding both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from 2006 and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering, economics, and management from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy, obtained in 2010. He is also a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Dr. Locatelli has authored over 90 international publications, primarily focusing on megaprojects, nuclear power, project management, energy economics and policy, and energy storage. His consulting work and visiting academic roles at various institutions further enhance his expertise in these fields.At the University, Dr. Locatelli teaches courses such as Financing and Initiating Major Engineering Projects, Major Engineering Project Performance, and Major Engineering Projects: Governance, Risk and Scope. His extensive research experience includes significant contributions to the understanding of complex infrastructure projects, where he has attracted over €1.7 million in research funding. Recognized for his impactful work, he has received various accolades including the 2023 IPMA Global Research Award and serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Project Management Journal. Through his teaching and research, Dr. Locatelli aims to prepare students for the challenges of managing large-scale engineering projects effectively.
