Deborah Agostino

Deborah Agostino is a lecturer in Management and Organizations at Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches B.Sc. courses in Computing Systems Engineering. Additionally, she lectures on Management Accounting and Control at MIP, the Business School of Politecnico di Milano, contributing to international MBA programs. After earning her B.Sc. in Management Engineering in 2006, she obtained a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Management Engineering from the same institution in 2008 and 2012, respectively. Her academic journey includes a notable experience as a visiting scholar at the Edinburgh Business School, focusing on accounting in both private and public sectors. Her research centers on management accounting and performance management within organizational networks, particularly in local public transport systems. Recently, she has ventured into studying accounting practices in the social media era, exploring how local administrations utilize social technologies to engage with citizens, with a keen emphasis on measurement challenges and the influence of social media on the management control cycle.
