Dave Wessner

Dave Wessner serves as Professor of Biology at Davidson College, bringing extensive expertise in virology and microbiology through his postdoctoral work at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, PhD from Harvard University in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and BA from Franklin & Marshall College. His research focuses on viral pathogenesis, particularly exploring antiviral compounds in collaboration with the Chemistry Department. As a dedicated educator, he teaches courses ranging from introductory biology to specialized classes on HIV/AIDS and microbiology. His commitment to HIV/AIDS education extends beyond the classroom through community outreach initiatives, including work with Warner Hall Eating House and World AIDS Day projects.
