University of Colorado BoulderDaniel Moorer is a Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder, affiliated with the Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program since 2012. He employs the Socratic method in his teaching, focusing on courses in leadership, ethics, project management, and communication. Dr. Moorer is a retired Army officer with extensive leadership experience, including assignments in South Korea, Germany, and the Middle East, where he served as Operations Officer for a tank battalion during the first Iraq War. He holds a Master’s Degree in Space Systems and has taught at the US Army Command and General Staff College. Following his military career, he conducted research on Earth's radiation-belt dynamics at the University of Colorado Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics and worked at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., where he led teams on space physics applications and served as Director of Business Development. Dr. Moorer is also an entrepreneur, having founded two companies focused on underwater communication and innovative product commercialization. He holds two patents and enjoys horsemanship, flying, and scuba diving in his free time. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and completed his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder.
