Inter-American Development BankCaridad Araujo serves as Chief of the Gender and Diversity Division at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she leads initiatives to improve access to quality services and economic opportunities for underrepresented groups. Her career includes serving as lead economist in IDB's Health and Social Protection Division, focusing on child development and poverty reduction programs, and teaching at Georgetown University. After earning her PhD and MA in Agricultural Economics and Natural Resources from UC Berkeley and BA in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, she has dedicated her career to advancing social inclusion and economic development. Through her leadership, she continues to strengthen the voice and representation of women, indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ community while maintaining her focus on poverty reduction and social protection programs.
