Clemson UniversityProfessor Brian C. Dean is the C. Tycho Howle Director of the School of Computing at Clemson University, where he also coordinates the Biomedical Data Science and Informatics graduate programs. He holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from MIT and has a broad range of research interests, particularly in algorithmic computer science and its applications, with a recent focus on biomedical data science. Additionally, he is passionate about computer science education, especially at the high school level, and directs the USA Computing Olympiad (USACO), which fosters algorithmic programming skills among high school students. In Spring 2023, he teaches a graduate course in algorithm design and analysis and organizes a programming and problem-solving course aimed at preparing students for competitive programming contests. Professor Dean has also developed a program called LectureScribe to enhance multimedia content for his courses.
