Dr. Ayelet Sela is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Law, where she integrates research in law, social science, and technology to investigate critical issues such as dispute system design, procedural justice, and the intersection of law and technology. Her current research focuses on how procedural design and choice architecture affect users of online legal processes, as well as the necessary adaptations in court procedures and judicial regulation in response to the decreasing number of trials. Collaborating with researchers from the BIU Data Science Institute, Dr. Sela also examines ethical and privacy risks associated with digital legal instruments and explores the potential for regulating these tools through automated governance mechanisms. Her previous roles include serving as the socio-legal research coordinator for an ERC-funded project on judicial conflict resolution, a legal auditor for the Israeli Ministry of Justice, and a fellow at Stanford University's Gould Negotiation and Dispute Resolution Center and Codex Center for Legal Informatics. Dr. Sela holds a JSD and JSM from Stanford Law School and an LLB from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
