Jungels serves as the Senior Assistant Director of Faculty Programs and Services at Columbia University's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), where she specializes in developing innovative educational programming and services for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Her academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. in Sociology from Georgia State University in 2012, where she distinguished herself by receiving both the Jacqueline Boles Teaching Fellowship and Teaching Associate awards. Before joining Columbia, she made significant contributions as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the U.S. Army Public Health Center, leading crucial research projects on sexual assault, trauma, and sexual health education for military personnel. Her research expertise centers on sexuality and gender studies, with particular focus on sex education, sexual violence, and cultural privacy norms. As a published author, she co-wrote "Focus on Social Problems: A Contemporary Reader" (Oxford University Press, 2016), and has developed extensive programming in evidence-based assessment techniques and inclusive classroom practices. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes reflective practices and the scholarship of teaching and learning, making her a valuable contributor to Columbia's educational excellence. Beyond her academic work, Dr. Jungels maintains a balanced life through cooking, yoga practice, embroidery, and spending time with her dog, aptly named after sociologist Max Weber.
