Mark W. Newman is an Associate Professor in the School of Information and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan. He serves as the Human-Computer Interaction specialization coordinator for the Master of Science in Information program and is a founding member of the Michigan Interactive and Social Computing (MISC) group. With a PhD and MS in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, along with a BA in Philosophy from Macalester College, Newman has a diverse academic background that informs his research interests in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Ubiquitous Computing. His work focuses on design, prototyping, and evaluation of innovative applications and technologies.
