Professor of Educational Policy, Leadership, and Innovation

Donald Peurach is a Professor of Educational Policy, Leadership, and Innovation at the University of Michigan's School of Education. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and is a co-organizer of the Improvement Scholars Network and the Global Systems Transformation Collaborative. His research focuses on large-scale instructional improvement in education systems, particularly how innovation and organization can enhance local capabilities to achieve educational goals.Peurach has collaborated with educators and researchers both in the United States and internationally to explore new methods for improving classroom practices. He has developed various resources and programs aimed at supporting educational improvement efforts. His courses include "Envisioning Educational Transformation," "Practicing Collaborative, Continuous Improvement," and "Reimagining Educational Innovation."He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Wayne State University, an MPP from the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan. Before his academic career, Peurach was a high school mathematics teacher and worked as a systems analyst across various sectors.Peurach's work has been published in numerous academic journals, and he has received several awards for his contributions to educational research. He is actively involved in shaping educational policy and practice through his research and outreach initiatives, focusing on improving educational quality and reducing disparities for historically marginalized students
