Dr. Robert S. Mazzeo has dedicated over 40 years to studying, researching, and teaching in the field of exercise science. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Since joining the University of Colorado Boulder in 1985, Dr. Mazzeo has focused his research on neuroendocrine and biochemical adaptations associated with exercise, exercise immunology, high-altitude physiology, and aging. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and has shared his expertise on platforms like the Today Show, discussing the benefits of regular exercise. Dr. Mazzeo has held various academic positions, transitioning from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology. His contributions to the field are recognized through his roles on editorial boards for prominent journals and his involvement in professional committees related to exercise and aging.
