Rob Prince serves as Associate Professor of Communication & Journalism at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he has been a faculty member since 2005. An East Lansing native and lifelong Michigan State fan, he discovered his passion for video production in high school and has pursued it ever since. Prince is best known as the creator and host of "Dark Winter Nights: True Stories from Alaska," a storytelling radio show and podcast that has gained national recognition. The New York Times praised it as "the best winter podcast for storytelling lovers," and stories from the show have aired on NPR's Weekend Edition. His work extends beyond audio, with his latest documentary "Back to Alaska: The DeLorean Road-Trip Movie" currently screening at film festivals. It chronicles his 3,600-mile journey from Michigan to Fairbanks in his 1982 DeLorean. At UAF, Prince teaches documentary filmmaking and focuses on helping students tell compelling stories through various media formats. His innovative approach to storytelling and media production has made him a valuable asset to the university's communication program and a respected figure in Alaska's creative community.
