Distinguished Veterinary Epidemiologist and Dairy Health Expert
Simon Dufour serves as Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology at the Université de Montréal's Faculté de médecine vétérinaire, where he leads the Op+lait FRQ-NT research group and co-directs the Chair in biosecurity of dairy production. After completing his DVM (1998) and PhD in Veterinary Science-Epidemiology (2011) from Université de Montréal, he spent 10 years as a veterinary practitioner before joining academia. His research focuses on infectious diseases epidemiology, antimicrobial usage in dairy animals, and development of diagnostic strategies. As Director of the Canadian Bovine Mastitis and Milk Quality Research Network, he has advanced understanding of mastitis control and milk quality improvement. His teaching responsibilities include quantitative methods for veterinary students and advanced epidemiology for graduate students. He has also developed successful Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) on mastitis and milk quality that have reached over 2,370 participants worldwide
