After several years in the fast-paced advertising industry, I transitioned into higher education marketing and communications in 2006, bringing a diverse skill set with me. My expertise in project management, creative marketing, and advertising has made me a valued strategic partner for communication officers and senior leadership at the University at Buffalo. I played a key role in establishing the Director of Communications Planning position, which I now hold. My mission is to bridge the gap between decentralized communicators and the central communications function through assessment, education, advisement, and strategic planning.
Director of Microcredentials and Badging
Anne Reed is the Director of Micro-Credentials and Digital Badges at the University at Buffalo (UB). She created a process for proposing, reviewing, developing, and implementing new micro-credential programs at the university. With a background in instructional design, Anne previously worked as an instructional designer for the Center for Educational Innovation at UB and as Program Manager for Open SUNY. She led a SUNY-wide team to develop the award-winning course, Quality by Design, which has trained over 600 faculty and staff in New York State in curriculum design strategies and offers digital badges to recognize professional competencies. Anne is also the co-founder of the Meaningful Gamification Academy (MeGa). Her research focuses on gamification in higher education and the use of digital badges as alternative credentials. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning.
