Margaret Anne Schedel is a prominent composer and cellist specializing in interactive media, with performances across the U.S. and internationally. Currently pursuing a DMA in music composition at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, she premiered her multimedia opera, A King Listens, at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, receiving notable recognition from apple.com. A certified Deep Listening practitioner trained by Pauline Oliveros, she has studied under respected composers such as Mara Helmuth, Cort Lippe, and McGregor Boyle. Actively involved in the arts community, Schedel serves on the boards of several organizations, including 60x60 Dance and the International Computer Music Association. She has contributed to the Cambridge Companion to Electronic Music and has published articles in various academic journals, while also co-authoring Electronic Music and working on a special issue of Organised Sound. Her creative endeavors have been supported by institutions like the Presser Foundation and Meet the Composer. In addition, she has co-chaired major conferences in the field and focuses her research on the intersection of gesture in music and sustainable technology in art. As an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University, she holds the position of Co-Director of Computer Music and is a core faculty member of the Consortium for Digital Art, Culture, and Technology (cDACT).
