His work includes involvement with the Hong Kong Woollen & Synthetic Knitting Manufacturers' Association, where he participates in initiatives promoting digitization and smart production in the industry. Ng has been instrumental in developing carbon footprint calculation platforms for knitted garments and advancing sustainable development in Hong Kong's textile industry. His expertise extends to academic leadership at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he contributes to research and development in textile and fashion technology. Through his roles in both industry and academia, Dr. Ng continues to shape the future of Hong Kong's fashion and textile sectors while fostering international collaboration and sustainable practices.

John H. Xin is Chair Professor of Textile Chemistry at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he has served since 1996, including as Head of the Institute of Textiles & Clothing. After earning his Bachelor of Science from China Textile University and PhD in Textile Chemistry from the University of Leeds, he has pioneered groundbreaking research in functional textiles and smart materials. His work spans multiple areas including UV-blocking treatments for cotton fabrics, surface functionalization with titanium dioxide nanoparticles, and development of artificial lotus leaf structures. Xin's research has produced significant innovations in areas such as self-cleaning cotton, superhydrophobic surfaces, and metal nanocatalysts for reduction reactions. His contributions to color science include influential work on cross-cultural color emotion and human emotional responses to colors. As one of the most cited researchers in his field, his publications have garnered over 1,800 citations, with his most influential papers focusing on carbon nanotube coatings, surface functionalization of cellulose fibers, and UV-blocking treatments.
