Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering
Dr. Bill Bailey is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Kennesaw State University, specializing in quality systems and process improvement. He earned his PhD in Technology Management with a specialization in Quality Systems from Indiana State University in 2011, and he also holds a Master of Science in Industrial Technology from North Carolina A&T State University, along with a Baccalaureate degree in Psychology and English. Dr. Bailey has extensive experience in manufacturing, particularly in lean implementation and training, having worked in various roles that involved teaching process improvement to both production employees and executives.In addition to his academic role, Dr. Bailey is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and actively trains Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts. His research interests focus on enhancing organizational performance through quality initiatives such as the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Process, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies. On Coursera, he teaches several courses related to Six Sigma, including Six Sigma Principles, Six Sigma Advanced Analyze Phase, and Six Sigma Tools for Define and Measure. His commitment to quality improvement extends to his involvement as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and state awards in North Carolina and Georgia.

Dr. Christina Scherrer is a full professor in the Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) department at Kennesaw State University (KSU), where she has been a faculty member since Fall 2005. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, along with degrees in Industrial Technology and a background in Psychology and English. Dr. Scherrer has extensive experience in both academia and industry, having worked for Delta Air Lines in operational reliability and pricing before transitioning to education. Her research focuses on applying industrial engineering principles to public health issues, including modeling the spread of tuberculosis and optimizing community health center locations.Dr. Scherrer teaches several courses on Coursera related to Six Sigma methodologies, including Six Sigma Advanced Analyze Phase, Six Sigma Advanced Define and Measure Phases, and Six Sigma Principles. She is passionate about enhancing organizational performance through quality initiatives and has been involved in various educational research projects, particularly those examining the effectiveness of online education and outreach programs. Dr. Scherrer is committed to mentoring students, encouraging them to engage in research that positively impacts health outcomes, especially for underserved populations.
