Carolyn Malachi has established herself as a multifaceted leader in audio technology and music education, building upon her great-grandfather John Malachi's jazz legacy. Her academic credentials include a master's in Audio Technology from American University (2019), a Fulbright-Hays award (2016), and an honorary doctorate from Shepherd University (2015). As an Avid Certified Dolby Atmos Professional, she operates as Call & Response, providing freelance production, engineering, composition, and film sound editing services. Her innovations include a patent-pending interactive performance system for converting data into money and sound (2022). At Howard University's Cathy Hughes School of Communications, she teaches audio production while conducting mixed-method research supported by the Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership (2023). Her advocacy for women in music technology includes co-chairing the Recording Academy's Washington, DC chapter and co-creating Remote Controlled (2021). Her performance career spans international jazz festivals and concerts across multiple continents, earning her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Urban Alternative Performance (2010). She regularly contributes to academic and industry discussions, including presentations at the Smithsonian, Berklee College of Music, and Johns Hopkins University, continuing her family's tradition of musical excellence and education.
