Module Description

This course, part of the Groundscape Architecture Lab series, focuses on the future of underground parking infrastructures. It is structured in two main parts: The Groundscape Architecture Lab and The Carpark Futures Design Studio. The first part provides theoretical background on Groundscape as a strategy for addressing urban challenges, including project visits and essential tools for developing Groundscape projects. The second part is a practical design studio where students develop their own Groundscape projects, specifically exploring the future of underground carparks in the context of changing mobility trends. The course prepares students for the Carpark Futures Competition, an international call for entries running parallel to the MOOC. Throughout the course, students benefit from lectures by Professor Dominique Perrault and other experts, live feedback sessions, and monthly presentations. The curriculum emphasizes innovative thinking about urban infrastructure, sustainable design, and the adaptation of existing structures to future needs.
