Her expertise spans online learning, faculty development, and student mentoring, including 14 years as a faculty member teaching online courses. Her academic credentials include a BA in Communication from Arizona State University, an MBA, and an MAED in Instructional Technology. At ASU, she contributes to developing innovative learning experiences that combine learning technology, faculty expertise, and instructional design strategies to enhance student outcomes. Her work includes developing and managing instructional design for ASU's online courses, including the "Foundations for Excellence in Teaching Online" program

Renee Pilbeam serves as Online Learning Manager for Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives at EdPlus/ASU Online, bringing over a decade of experience in instructional design, teaching, and faculty development. Her role includes managing professional development and training efforts to support online teaching faculty. As a graduate of the 2021 IELOL program cohort and program co-director, she has demonstrated leadership in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education, earning the Chair's Award from the Committee for Campus Inclusion for integrating equity standards into course design. Her work focuses on developing transformative learning experiences through faculty partnerships, sound learning design, and effective use of technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Arizona State University and contributes to ASU's flagship workshop "Master Class for Teaching Online." Her philosophy centers on education as a human right, emphasizing the importance of developing relationships, fostering human connection, and ensuring equity in educational access while working to dismantle systemic barriers in education.
