Dr. Kathryn Raign is a Professor and the Director of First-Year Writing at the University of North Texas, where she is dedicated to maintaining a tradition of excellence in writing education. Her current research explores the development of writing in ancient Mesopotamia. Excitingly, her upcoming publication, The Origins of the Art and Practice of Professional Writing: The Written Word as a Tool for Social Justice Then and Now, will be released by SUNY Press in fall 2023. Additionally, her recent work includes the article "Decentering the History of the Writing Center: A Case for the Mesopotamian Edubba as an Early Writing Center," accepted by the College Composition and Communication Journal, and "The Art of Ancient Mesopotamian Technical Manuals and Letters: The Origins of Instructional Writing," published in Technical Communication Quarterly in 2022.
